Welcome!

I’m a self-taught musician, composer, mixing engineer and writer from northern Germany. Though I’m specialized in heavier subgenres, dark atmospheres and melancholic compositions, I’m open to work in a variety of genres. Feel free to check out my work scattered on this page, contact me for inquiries, or just leave a few words.

The Best Albums of 2025

Yes, I’m still doing this It’s the end of the year again and I’m writing a list about some of the music I enjoyed this year. Same procedure as every year! But what’s different this time is that I’m better off than I was last year. My mental health is improving steadily thanks to a combination of group therapy, medication, and abstinence from caffeine and alcohol, I’m working on at least two cool things to be released in 2026, and I’ve been to Iceland on vacation and saw actual live puffins, which is probably also doing a lot of the…

C-Sides

This is a collection of songs that don’t really belong anywhere else, as they’re not part of an album, a coherent theme, or anything else. Closest thing resembling a theme would be that a couple of tracks come from a time when my partner made me write short soundtrack pieces to randomized settings and moods to practice composing skills. Then there are a couple of contest entries, as well as some tracks I wrote to experiment with different VSTs or to practice production skills. It’s part album, part demo reel, part archival, part documentation of the progress I’ve made over…

A lukewarm defense of Jurassic World: Rebirth

When there is a new big budget dinosaur movie around, I’m usually going to watch it, eventually. The age of streaming means that I don’t have to wait that long until I can watch a movie if real life responsibilities get in the way of going to the theatre, and this leaves me with a couple of weeks in which I’m being exposed to the true measure of our times, Internet opinions. In case of the most recent Jurassic World movie, Jurassic World: Rebirth, what I was getting from trailer commentaries, YouTube thumbnails and cursory glances at review scores, was…

I (don’t) want to buy a new computer

Introduction It’s happening! Finally, after years, I, a self-taught, amateur music maker, composer and writer, am slowly drawing in my first paid gigs. Among many things, this means that for the first time in my life, the computer that I use has to be a reliable tool and not just a gadget that enables me to waste time. Ten years ago, I would have looked forward to the prospect of building a new system dedicated to production purposes. The truth is, I like computers and gadgets a lot. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without the various PCs,…

The Best Albums of 2024

Every year I tell myself to make this list shorter. Yet every year, I get to listen to more amazing albums than I could ever do justice to in written form. It’s September now while I’m writing this part of the draft, and I’ve already got fifty albums on my list. And I kind of like all of them. Because 2024 has definitely been a great year for music. It has been a year filled with deliciously depressing black metal, powerful melodic death metal, and more journeys to the stars than I could count. This was a year in which…

future melone

This is a collection of twelve older tracks of mine that I remixed and remastered. Some of them have never seen publishing before, some of them are related to Xenogramm, one of them is a remake of Isa’s Dance beat, and one of them is something that started as an experiment to learn Ableton.

The Best Albums of 2023

What a year for music! 2023 had some incredible records and I had a hard time picking favorites. I even had to make a clear cut mid-November to have enough time ranking my picks and writing this post, and I still ended up with 35 albums that I wanted to highlight! In other words, I listened to a lot of new music this year, in part due to my decision to watch less YouTube and listen to fewer podcasts. In total, I must have listened to at least fifty albums, and I’m at a point at which I will probably…

Meter für Meter

Music Production and Digital Essentialism

If you produce music, you are probably aware that the industry offers a wide variety of choice in software and gear. Not only can you choose from an ever-growing buffet of plugins, libraries, instruments, pedals, and gadgets, you can also swear your undying loyalty to countless manufacturers and brands. Recurring sales on store websites, bundles and affordable subscription models make it enticing to load up on samples and effects, all while reviews and tutorials on YouTube try to convince you that you only need to buy just this one console emulation plugin to make your music finally sound like a…
